Hong Kong

Hong Kong is a Special Administrative region of the Republic of China, and is situated in southeast China. The region comprises Hong Kong Island, Kowloon Peninsula, the New Territories and 250-odd islands. Rainy season is from March to September. Summers are hot and humid while winters are fairly cooler. Hong Kong harbour is a major stop over for cruises ships from all over the world. It is a favoured yachting destination too. The Ocean Terminal at the Kowloon Peninsula is where ships and liners berth.


The Repulse Beach is the most impressive beach in Hong Kong. It has a lot of visitors who enjoy water sports. Golden Beach, located in the New Territories, is the first artificial beach in Hong Kong which has a hotel, a volleyball court and a shopping mall.  

Hong Kong is a shoppers’ paradise, whether its textiles, gadgets or electronic gizmos. Stanley Market on the south side of Hong Kong is known for its shopping streets and by-lanes. The Giant Buddha is a 250-ton statue which makes it the world’s tallest outdoor seated bronze Buddha. It’s located on Lantau Island. Hong Kong has the world’s fifteen tallest skyscrapers.


For those who enjoy the Opera, the Chinese Opera which uses music, Chinese legends and folk stories and drama is a must-see. You should also see the Lion dance and the Dragon dance.


Aberdeen is a port city and visitors often hire a sampan, a local boat, to go around the waters and observe life. Aberdeen has two floating restaurants and also the Ocean Park, which is one of the biggest Ocean theme parks in South East Asia. There are many temples, food courts, walkways and of course, Hong Kong Disneyland to be visited here.
